Pretty Bitches

At our first Present Women event this summer one of the volunteers was asked : “What is Present Women?”

“Is it just a bunch of pretty bitches getting together?”

As a celebrity makeup artist I’ve been surrounded by pretty people my entire career. The quote “Pretty as a picture” is the shallow photoshopped image the media can use to sell you stuff.

That “pretty” image takes a team to create.

I’ve also been privileged in my life and career to witness present beauty. Present beauty does not diminish with age or if you gain a pound, have a bad hair day or get a zit. It also doesn’t improve with thinner thighs or shinier hair.

It glows from within. It comes from fighting to keep shining when events and people darken your life and smiling proudly:

“this is who I am!”.

A present beauty celebrates the unique beauty in all women .

So if you want to call us “bitches” for coming together to support instead of judge other women go ahead…

but don’t call us “pretty”.
